The Power of a Good Jumpsuit and Creative Layering Pieces

Britni Brainstorm stands in a bright brick-walled office at ethOs, looking at her phone while wearing a maroon blazer, black wide-leg jumpsuit, and snakeskin shoes. A maroon laptop and ethOs coffee mug sit on a wooden desk beside her, with a large window and plants adding warmth to the space.

Some outfits come together effortlessly, not because they’re trendy or brand new, but because they’ve lived with you long enough to become part of your story. That’s exactly how I feel about this look.

This black wide-leg jumpsuit has been in my wardrobe for about seven years, and honestly, it might be one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever bought from Eccentrics Boutique. It originally had tie-on straps, but they never quite stayed put. After a while, I removed them completely, and it instantly became the perfect strapless base layer. I love pieces like this...the kind that evolve with you and somehow get better with time. It’s the ideal foundation to style with blazers, button-ups, jackets, or anything with structure.

For this outfit, I layered it with my maroon blazer from Dillard’s (the same one I’ve worn in a few recent looks because I truly use my wardrobe). The shape of this blazer is so good. Structured, warm, rich in color, and just polished enough without feeling stuffy. Instead of tucking a belt underneath, I wore my faux snakeskin belt outside the blazer to define my waistline and add some visual interest. This belt is a gray-toned Nordstrom Rack find that I snagged for cheap, and it’s been one of my most favorite accessories ever since.

The best part? It matches my faux snakeskin ankle booties perfectly, a pair my personal stylist helped me choose back in 2022. Every time I wear them, they remind me that style is supposed to be fun, expressive, and personal.

To finish things off, I added a long Kendra Scott pendant necklace. Simple. Elegant. The right amount of shine without overwhelming the look. I love long necklaces with strapless pieces because they balance the neckline so well.

Why This Look Works

This outfit feels powerful in the most effortless way. Wide-leg jumpsuits always give such a graceful, elongated silhouette, and the blazer brings in polish and structure. The belt and boots tie everything together with texture and personality.

But it’s not just the clothes. It’s how I feel in them.

To me, that’s the real definition of personal style...wearing something that supports your energy instead of distracting from it.

A Space That Means Something to Me

These photos were taken at ethOs, our local co-working space and entrepreneurial hub. I was the very first annual member when it opened several years ago, and I’m proud to still be part of it today. ethOs has become such an important resource for our community — a place where small businesses, nonprofits, freelancers, remote workers and dreamers can work, connect, and grow. Shooting this outfit here felt full-circle in the best way.

And of course, these images were captured by my cousin, Mallory Minor, who brings so much talent and heart to her photography.
